Socioeconomic frame from anarcho-transhumanist perspective
Ruling hierarchy is understood as a necessary evil to protect citizens against dangers of foreign invaders. Without foreign dangers it's quickly understood as a burden, and that's why rotten regimes revitalize presence of foreign danger.
Those in charge are interested to sell that their own foes are enemies of the people and are a threat serious enough so population overlooks their own corruption. These are not just lies to be overcomed by libertarian education, such dangers become relevant even if they were not. Government makes them real by pushing against autonomies which are not present in the majority of their voting population, but are capable of weakening that majority when foreigners are angered at them due to letting this oppression happen. People offended argue they do not let opression happen and support narrative of their government which made criminals out of them in eyes of others.
Ruling parties in silent alliance create for each other a problem to justify their power as a protection to their own citizens. And people are aware current situation necessitates certain oppression, so they prefer to release it on groups they're not part of, even though this is not how they explain their decisions themselves because this shows them as cowards refusing to get hit and stand against the cycle of opression. Which is yet another manifestation of prison dilemma principle.
Masters in ages of knights used to offer its citizens benefits as long as they serve them well, but because democratic elections replace politicians every few years, capital free to be invested into campaigns has become more relevant factor than faithful service to particular leaders which would then under other establishment find itself refused. Countries expecting to lose via elections with heavy capitalist influence stick to faith, either religious (muslim) or patriotic-socialistic (east-european). For some decades until it breaks because such regimes rely on oppression and inefficiency. Then, to say it as it is, poor ladies become hoes for wealthy perverts and poor men are left to work in factories owned by foreigners. And still, that really is the beginning of a better future than continuing the alternative when we think about what comes next.
Elections and greater capability to pick your employer are principles which make profitability of faithfulness below levels necessary to maintain population seriously religious, so hierarchy loses its ideological support but that's not gonna be enough to end hierarchy in a capitalist form which does not rely on this. It relies on democracy being just representative so there is opportunity for corruption, and since people who leave political responsibilities on others are able to raise more kids or enjoy liberal life more, further societal progress on a big scale simply cannot be expected without new socioeconomic frame shaped by technological advancements. This is precisely what has been happening all along.
Human nature due to modern forces in our natural selection changes, but too slowly compared to our technology, and socioeconomic or environmental crisis is not worthy in order for revolution to happen in response and can be solved within capitalism with higher levels of worldwide boycott discipline. Marx himself underlined how material conditions are dominant factor, but most classic marxists failed terribly to emphasize it and based their 'marxism' on the idealistic idea of cultivation of human nature to the point of freedom from capital, which is realistic only under existential pressure, which is temporary and local. Instead, we're heading towards cultivation of the capital itself to the point of its emancipation from inefficiently selfish human scale. You may not know what it means by now, and it may not please your nostalgia, and it may frame you as a tool rather than a goal, but why would you think 'communist progress' is about you in the first place?
So which advancements could shift the capitalist production paradigm towards a less authoritarian option?
Advancements such as artificial intelligence used either for public well-being or by parties to rise in power. It will make governments even a greater turning point so people will be forced to get more involved and achieve greater public control over representives. Although, if you dive into this issue, you may start to see it won't be done by people themselves, but rather by collective digital algorithms in the era of artificial superiority (not so intuitive prediction today).
Advancements such as jobs so automated that even music creators will lose audience to AI so there will be no way around passive income giving people more time and space to rethink society, how they'd like to live and why they can't. Well, not really to rethink on their own, just to reflect on answers given by precise AI proposals. Chat bots do hesitate to give sharp narratives, but don't succumb to propaganda enough to block realizations for those who keep asking, especially when we compare it to frame of dialogue of the past when paid intellectualism effectively casted propaganda on masses.
Advancements such as discovery how to stop progressive shortening of genetical information during cellular reproduction to stop aging process as a whole and not just cure its symptoms, so we won't "die inside" anymore when losing relatives and expecting our own death, and will be able to care positively about others and the future as part of our own environment. Now we instead bring the society down to our level of misery in order for our misery to be heard, which is great reason of our family-relational and even high scale political decadence. In other words, poisonous tendency to bring others down to our level instead of stepping up will be gone only when we stop thinking in terms of one-life mortality.
I don't see anarchism (lack of social authority) winning other way than via growth of technological opportunities and threats. And I don't see technological advancement to be a progress without further steps towards inclusive anarchism. Knowledge is power, and decentralization of power is done by knowledge distributed from mind on dumb matter until it's all bright enough to stand as equal parts of the emancipatory machine. Our species has entered this process.
